In 2022, Bafang launched the upgraded product M510 mid-motor, which is a further innovative development of the product based on the continuation of M500's sturdy advantages and stringent standards.

It is understood that the M510 has the same strong torque of 95Nm as the M500, but the overall torque curve becomes higher. This means that M510 can provide strong support for high speed of 120rpm.

To further drive effective power growth, the M510 has revolutionized the rotor and segmented stator and adopted a magnesium housing, reducing the weight of the M510 by a full 18% to 2.9kg compared to the M500, which weighs 3.4kg.

Starting and acceleration effect
In addition to weight, the M510 also optimizes the software start-up performance, allowing users to have a smoother and more controlled riding experience during the start-up phase. These properties will better assist in short corner riding and fast climbs. With the considerable power of the M510, the acceleration of the vehicle will be very powerful, and the ride will be "on target" to its destination.
Agility and Sensitivity
On steep hills and tight corners, it is critical that the motor delivers precisely the right amount of power. Too much power will cause the tires to spin, while too little power will cause erratic handling. Thanks to the high sensitivity of the torque sensor, the M510 can quickly and accurately determine the amount of power needed to provide the right amount of boost based on the rider's pedal force. The M510 mid-motor is ideal for performance in a variety of power situations, whether in a bike park or a technically challenging uphill pass.
Installation and compatibility
In addition to a lighter architecture, the mid-mounted motor is optimized for water resistance and has an additional 12V light module. In addition, the M510 is compatible with ISCG05 size chain guides, has the same motor mounting as the M500/M410, and offers an option for hidden speed sensor mounting.
The M510 motor is compatible with most of Bafang's other products, such as the down tube battery, the LED meter equipped DP E180/181, the color screen meter DPC242, two different magnetically fixed hidden speed sensors, and the upcoming Bafang APP. Regarding the previously mentioned product components, Bafang's in-house production capabilities can ensure a 60 to 90 day lead time.

Since the beginning of this year, the M510 engine has successfully started to be put into use, driven by the professional team CST PostNL Bafang MTB Racing Team with star rider Bart Brentjens.
